Green Energy Saving

Energy Management Services

BUIST can implement programs to reduce your energy bills. Reductions are accomplished by installing and managing systems that are designed to improve the energy efficiency of your facility.

Programs are initiated with a preliminary facility audit. Following the audit, alternatives are specified for the client to enable the selection of those options that best suit the client’s requirements. Options may encompass the total facility, specific assets within the facility or designated areas within buildings. Typically options can be specified for HVAC systems; chilled water systems; control systems; electric motors; blending, drying and curing operations; switchgear; and, equipment deployed in production applications. Next, an investment-grade audit is conducted. Overall BUIST strives to achieve a return on investment on behalf of the client consistent with the client’s financial goals. If the detailed audit indicates this goal cannot be achieved, the project does not proceed. Each of these tasks is accomplished with the client’s representatives functioning as a member of the project team.

Alternatively, when it makes sense to proceed with the project because of the accelerated payback and contribution to operating efficiency, BUIST is able to provide the project design and construction resources to implement the project on a turnkey basis.

As the final step in the process, BUIST will conduct a financial analysis of the project in order to evaluate the financing alternatives available to the client. This evaluation will examine factors such as lease/buy alternatives and their respective impacts on cash flow. Finally BUIST is prepared to assist the client in identifying and securing sources of funding, when the client so chooses. In the provision of this service, BUIST is prepared to participate to the utmost in furthering the client’s interests. This overall process is managed by Paul Colt.

GOING GREEN

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System ™ is the nationally accepted certification for the design, construction, and operation of high performance green buildings. LEED looks at the building as a whole in terms of sustainability and looks for performance in five key areas of human and environmental health; sustainability site development, water savings, energy efficiency, material selection and indoor environmental quality.

BUIST Professionals are currently pursuing LEED Accreditation and they understand green building practices and principles, and are familiar with LEED requirements, resources and processes. BUIST’s managers and Engineers attend specific training to help our clients determine the best high performance building strategy for their projects, including how to minimize resource consumption, utilize renewable and recyclable resources, create healthy non-toxic human environments and apply life cycle cost analysis.
